This is the Advanced method setup screen.

Settings you need to note are circled in red:

 

  • Iris Setting: This is the only control of interest here. This controls how much infrared is emitted from the source. Too much, and the detector may saturate, too little, and you won't get a spectrum. For our purposes, set this to 40%.


  • The other settings here should look as shown above, if so, do not touch them. They will only need to be changed if you use an external device, e.g. the infrared microscope.

The final tab, "System" shouldn't need touching. However, if you want to see what the settings SHOULD BE, click here.

In order that you can make these settings at the spectrometer, click on the printer to get a printer-friendly list of the settings.

You are now ready to measure your first spectrum! Click the "Save" button, and give your method a filename with your name in it. Then click "Done".
