CRISPit Mid-Term Meeting Feb 2023
The CRISPit team gathered on February 29, 2024, for the project's mid-term meeting, held both virtually and in person. During this gathering, each beneficiary presented their ongoing work, highlighting significant results. This meeting served as a crucial checkpoint to assess the progress of our collective efforts and to adjust future strategies accordingly. Late Afternoon Biology Talks Feb 2024
"Biologia ao fim da tarde" lecture series took place at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto (FCUP), in collaboration with the Department of Biology, the Biology Students' Association (NEBUP), and the Northern Regional Delegation of the Order of Biologists on February 22, 2024. Session aimed for students, researchers, professors and enthusiasts alike to deepen their understanding of plant biology. “The great magical circus of photosynthesis” was the topic under discussion in a session with one of our team members, Luís Gustavo Pereira, Assistant Professor at the Department of Biology. Design Thinking Dec 2023
Participation in the Design Thinking Workshop to come up with new ideas and networking for multidisciplinary projects in plant biology covering the emerging and broad issues of climate change, biodiversity loss and global warming. Organized by the PlantAnim community on December 18, 2023, at the Porto Innovation Hub. -
3rd EUGLOH Plant Science meeting Nov 2023
The 3rd EUGLOH Plant Science Meeting was organized by the Plant Functional Biology and Biotechnology Master's Course at the University of Porto. It extends to students from EUGLOH Alliance Universities and the entire Plant Biology scientific community to participate with oral or poster presentations. -

Invitation to participate at the Green-it seminar series with the talk "How do molecular networks control seed development? CRISPit - Bridging fundamental knowledge and novel technology to increase rice heat tolerance" on October 13, 2023, at Lisbon, ITQB/NOVA. -
Study Trip Sept 2023
Invitation for a field trip to Salvaterra de Magos to get familiar with the production of sustainable rice in Portugal, part of the European program Sustainable EU Rice. The group visited COTArroz (Operational and Technological Rice Center) whose mission is to promote the development of the rice farming sector in Portugal, for example through applied research. It was possible to know a little bit more about the Portuguese Rice Breeding Program developed in collaboration with INIAV (Instituto Nacional de Investigação Agrária e Veterinária). This program's main goal is to develop new rice varieties adapted to the Portuguese edapho-climatic conditions and the needs of farmers, industry and consumers, regarding the Carolino type. -
4th PlantEd Conference Sept 2023

Fascination of Plants Day May 2023
As a collaborative effort, Plant Biology laboratories affiliated with FCUP and the research centers LAQV/REQUIMTE, GreenUPorto, and CIBIO have joined forces to promote the dissemination of scientific advancements in the field of Plant Biology within the FCUP community. Our aim is to engage secondary school students from diverse educational institutions in exploring the intricacies of plant biology. -

Our team member Ana Ventura won the distinction of best poster at IJUP'23 (Young Research at the University of Porto) in the area of Biological Sciences.
