REACHING PORTO...
...by plane
Porto International Airport, Francisco Sá Carneiro (OPO), is located at 15 km of Porto city center. It is a modern award winning airport that offers convenient flight connections with most European capitals and cities. There are also direct flights to other major cities, such as New York, Toronto, and Rio de Janeiro. Several low-cost companies fly to Porto, such as Ryanair, Easy-Jet, Air Transat, and Sunswing. Additional connections via Lisbon Airport (LIS) are facilitated by an air bridge between the cities or by the Alfa Pendular train connection between Lisbon and Porto (2:35 h trip).
The Porto International Airport is connected to the city center by taxi, metro or bus. A taxi ride to the conference venue should be around 20 euros.
If you choose to reach the conference venue by Metro, you should pick line E (violet) and leave at "Casa da Música" (23 minutes) station, which is around 20 minutes walking distance from the conference venue. To go to the city center get off at "Estação da Trindade" station. The metro runs from 6:00 am to 01:00 am and you must buy a Z4 ticket (1.85 euros) for the run from the airport to the centre/conference venue. For moving within the city, Z2 tickets (1.20 euros) are required.
There are three STCP bus lines connecting the Airport to Porto city centre: lines 601, 602 and 604 (1.85 euros). To go to the conference venue, choose line 601.
...by train
Alfa Pendular is the most comfortable train service to reach Porto from Lisbon (south) or from Braga (north). There are also some connections with cities in Spain such as Vigo, Madrid and San Sebastian, please consult the Comboios de Portugal trains site to check on these. The main train station in Porto is "Estação de Campanhã", where you can take the Metro to the city centre/conference venue.

Besides national roads (EN, IC, IP), the city has access to various highways, subject to toll:
from Lisbon (and south): A1
from Galicia (or north): A3 Valença (Minho); A4 Amarante, linking A24 (Chaves-Spain) or linking to Bragança-Spain.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN PORTO
An extensive public transportation network covers the whole city of Porto. Tickets, called "Andante" card, are valid for metro and buses and can be bought at metro stations and major bus stops. You can buy a card (Z2) charged with a single ticket or with 10 + 1 tickets, in any case you can recharge it aftwerwards with additional tickets. The lowest fare is Z2, which is valid to travel within the city limits. There are also 24-h and 72-h travel passes ("Andante Tour 1" and Andante Tour 3", respectively). The metro runs from 6:00 am to 01:00 am.
Please note that each "Andante" card can only be used by one person per trip and must always be validated: whenever a journey is commenced, whenever the means of transport changes and independently of ticket type. As you cannot have more than one type of ticket charged in your "Andante", if coming from the Airport we advise the following procedure: buy the ticket at the airport metro station and charge it with a single Z4 ticket (1.85 euros). At the arrival station, charge it with additional tickets (now Z2 fare, if your plan is to stay within the city limits).
