BIOLOGY
STRUCTURE
The Doctor’s degree in Biology is planned for a normal full-time duration of three years, dedicated exclusively to the development of an original research project, which will end up with the preparation and defense of a thesis, that corresponds to 180 ECTS.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The candidate must have a Master’s degree or equivalent in the area of Biology or related field, a work plan outlined for three years of scientific research and at least one statement of acceptance of guidance from a qualified academic or researcher, from one of the units recognized by the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Criterion 1 – Merit of the candidate (50%)
- Sub-criterion 1 – academic classification (50%)
- Sub-criterion 2 – curricular analysis (50%)
- Criterion 2 – Merit and feasibility of the work program (50%)
- Sub-criterion 1 – Relevance, merit and innovative nature of the work plan (50%)
- Sub-criterion 2 – feasibility of the work program in relation to reception conditions (50%)
Criteria for the tie-break of candidates:
- the merit and feasibility criteria of the Work Program will be used to order the tied candidates
