The XXIII Meeting of the Portuguese Electrochemical Society will be held in the vibrant city of Porto, Portugal, and aims to foster a discussion forum on the developments, achievements and prospects in all fields of Electrochemistry. Moreover, it aims to strengthen contacts between academia, technology transfer centers and industry, to build up new partnerships and networks.
The program includes several PLENARY and INVITED TALKS by leading experts from Academia and Industry in the fields of Electrochemical Energy Conversion and Storage, Electrocatalysis, (Bio)sensing, Corrosion, Environmental Electrochemistry and Electroanalytical Chemistry.
The Organizing Committee encourages the participation of all stakeholders, researchers and students working in these fields and the submission of oral and poster communications.
This meeting is inserted in the activities of the Portuguese Electrochemical Society (SPE), which has a long-standing tradition in the organization of these meetings as a valuable exchange platform for all aspects of Electrochemistry and as a tool to highlight the importance of Electrochemistry in the development of an innovative and sustainable future.
The meeting will take place in the Municipal Library Almeida Garrett, located in the city of Porto, Portugal, from 2 to 4 May 2018.

The city of Porto (Oporto in English) is located in northwest of Portugal, and is the second largest city of the country and the capital of the Porto district and of the northern region.
The city is built along hillsides near the mouth of Douro River, and unfolds in charming landscapes, inviting terraces and wonderful green spaces, with more than 2000-years of history. Porto’s Historical Centre was nominated World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 1996, and keeps its welcoming and charming character while, at the same time, is contemporary and creative, as shown by the emblematic monuments of Torre dos Clérigos, Ponte D. Luís I, Palácio da Bolsa and Igreja de São Francisco and by the modern buildings of Casa da Música and Museu de Serralves.
Considered the European Best Destination in 2014 and 2017, the city of Porto is also known by its Porto wine, produced in the World Heritage Douro landscapes, stored in the famous Caves do Vinho do Porto at Vila Nova de Gaia, and sent from here to the whole world.
Witness of a long cultural history, the city of Porto is really a living heritage that regenerates and reinvents itself but always maintains its core character and remains Invicta.
Detailed information about accommodation, public transport, sightseeing tours, gastronomy, nightlife and culture may be found in the Official Portal of Porto Tourism and Visit Porto.
