Introduction

Porto University, Basque Country University, Paul Sabatier University and Liége University have organised a scientific meeting focused on the study of Granitic Pegmatites. This conference was held in Porto, Portugal from May 6^th to May 12^th, 2007.

The six-day conference begun on Sunday, May 6 ^th with the ice break party and consisted of three days of technical sessions which was followed by a three day visit to selected aplite-pegmatite veins from the NW Iberian Peninsula.
