Daniela Resende is currently a PhD student of the Doctoral Programme in Animal Science, at the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of the University of Porto. DR has a MSc degree in Bioengineering (specialization in Biological Engineering) from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. In the past, DR has worked with the application of bioactive compounds in food products and nanoencapsulation techniques to enhance the potential, stability or delivery of such compounds. At the moment, DR’s thesis and research is focused on obtaining bioactive compounds from by-products of the agri-food industry and applying them on functional diets for important aquaculture species, evaluating the impact of such ingredients on fish growth, immune status, antioxidant defenses and nutritional value. Moreover, DR is familiarized with (and accredited to) animal experimentation, particularly in growth, immune and digestibility experiments with fish.
